Blog 8: PERSONAL OPINIONS

In today's post I will write my personal opinion on 4 different topics. First, child labor. About this I consider that it is a phenomenon that should not happen and that represents a violation of human rights towards children and adolescents. Likewise, I believe that combating this phenomenon is not enough with laws or their prohibition, but that it is necessary to implement a public policy of labour inspection and sanctioning of the industries that generate working spaces for children. In this sense, I also believe that it is necessary to improve the social policy for the protection of children's rights and the Senate institution, since both mechanisms not only reproduce injustices and violations of the right to childhood, but also state inaction against companies, reducing this type of problem to family responsibility. The second topic I will reflect on will be recycling, this topic is not in itself problematic, I believe that all or most of us are aware of its benefits, ho...

Blog 7: ANIMATED DISNEY/PIXAR CHARACTER

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I'm going to write to you about a Disney character I love, Elsa, from Frozen. She was originally the Princess of Arendelle, but later became the Queen. A special feature of this character is that she has superpowers, she can control ice and freeze things. This makes her very insecure, as she is afraid of damaging her kingdom and her loved ones. I don't want to spoil the movies, so I won't go into any more detail.  Still, I want to tell you why he's my favorite Disney character. This is because of many things, including his personality, which at a certain point identifies me. She is powerful, intelligent, strong, capable of many things, but very insecure and distrustful, so much so that she is self-sabotaging and a victim of her own stupidity. However, she manages to overcome her emotional barriers and realize how special she is. Besides, she sings beautifully and when she empowers herself she has an attitude worthy of any bad ass hahaha. Here is a ...

Blog 9: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Personally if I had a genius of wishes, that could change the social work curriculum, I feel that it would take me an entire afternoon to tell you what I would like to change on it. First, I would like to restructure the subject approaches, for example, to courses like “ Critical approaches to social work ” I would take you to combine or mix the theoretical approach you already have with the national context. In terms of the application of theoretical branches to contingent socio-cultural situations, I would add to subjects like social psychology a section of tools for person-to-person interactions or self-care tools for the professional future. On the other hand, the research nuclei would be modified by the evaluations, eliminating the standardized character of evaluation, since each nucleus has its particularities and not all can be evaluated through the same mechanism: a written theoretical report. Regarding the teaching staff, despite the fact that I feel that they are all highly q...

Blog 5: MY FUTURE JOB

Social Work is a profession that has a lot of work, but I would like to work in child intervention and lgbtiqa+ groups. Both are areas that I like very much and I consider that they have many problems of exclusion, marginalization and above all that they are not taken seriously in public policy.  In this sense, I would like to mix internal and external work, that is to say, to do work in the field on behalf of institutions or the government and at the same time to do research independently or in some NGO's. Regarding the salary, I think that it will not be very good hahha, the profession is not very good in those terms, but I think that mixing intervention and developing research projects should not be so bad (I hope). Actually, as long as it helps me to survive I'm happy. I think the important thing is to feel comfortable with the profession and with yourself more than the amount of money you have. I am currently studying a specialization in interdisciplinary studies of Social...

Blog 6: POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Today's post is related to postgraduate courses that I would like to take in the future, in some moments of reflection this possibility has assaulted my mind. I have a considerable interest marked by two areas in which I would like to deepen that I would cover by taking postgraduate courses of Sociology of the body or something related to this area. The reasons I have for doing this are many, really many, on the one hand I am passionate about the study of the body as a socio-cultural construct and the concept of doing a doctorate ahahah. But beyond that, the main reason is that I feel that this area of study has declined and ignored the current state of dissenting bodies. In studying this, my goal would be to simultaneously investigate and confirm some of my hypotheses regarding how the neoliberal model has impacted the perception and valuation of the body according to its level of productivity. And, at the same time, to develop social interventions that confront phenomena of oppre...

Blog 4: a book you should read

Imagen
Hi everyone, today I'm going to talk to you about a book you should read. This one is called Aristoreles and Dante discovering the universe.  This book is written by Benjamin Alire Saenz and narrates the story of two friends: Aristotle and Dante ahahah, they are teenage boys who grow up together and have slightly different personalities, one is quiet and calm, the other restless and passionate about learning. The story begins in the 80's and tries to develop the bonds that are generated between both teenagers, some tribal problems and the distance when one of them moves to another city. The plot is beautiful and very complete. Something I like a lot about this book is that it touches on very interesting and new topics; love between friends and homosexual relationships. Another thing I love about this book is that it helped me not to feel alone, because I had no one to talk to about these things and little by little it became one of my references and taught me that this type of ...

Blog 3: Insatiable, a polemic serie that you must watch

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I'm going to write about a series that I like very much and that I think everyone should watch. However, I would like to clarify that even though I recommend it a lot, it can be hurtful for certain people. This series is unbelievable, which was created and directed by Lauren Gussis and stars Debby Ryan. It premiered on August 10, 2018 and has two seasons. The plot revolves around Patty Bladell, a girl who has suffered the effects of fat-phobia and his different forms of harassment. This girl after an accident that breaks her jaw can only consume food in a liquid way, so she loses a LOT of weight, which makes her environment go from hating her for being fat and ugly to adoring her for being thin, and therefore beautiful. With her new look and recognizing how different it is to live in a body that is socially perceived as beautiful, she decides to make a revenge on those who treated her badly and for those ways of the life, she meets a man who works in beauty co...
